What is the standard Lexus warranty?

Lexus Factory Warranty is 4 years or 50,000 miles of bumper-to-bumper repairs on all malfunctions caused by flaws in design or engineering.

The Powertrain Warranty is 6 years or 70,000 miles of repairs on the engine, transmission, and driveshaft.

Routine maintenance is covered for 12 months or 10,000 miles.

All three standard benefits begin from the original purchase date of the first owner and transfer to subsequent owners until the time or mileage threshold is reached, whichever occurs first.

Lexus offers two extended warranty options and a prepaid maintenance plan for owners who want to buy longer coverage.

What do the Lexus Extended Warranty Options cover?

Option 1

Lexus Extra Care Platinum covers the engine block, supercharger, transfer case, axles, carburetor, steering, suspension, computers, electronics, and all other repairs except items explicitly listed as exclusions on the contract.

Option 2

Lexus Extra Care Gold has a similar list of covered repairs, but includes less components within each category.

The F&I Tools comparison found that nearly one third of Gold claims did not fall within the scope of the plan.

Platinum claims had much better success rates and the additional premium proved to be worth the added protection.

What does Lexus prepaid maintenance cover?

Lexus Luxury Care includes oil changes, tire rotations, multi-point inspections, and scheduled services as listed in the Maintenance Log for each vehicle.

How much is the repair copay?

Scheduled maintenance does not have a copay, but the extended warranties have two deductible options: $100 disappearing or $0.

The $100 deductible disappears and is not charged when returning to the dealer that sold the extended policy, but is charged at other dealers. It seems like a wise choice until the price comparison is considered.

It only costs $450 more upfront to have a $0 copay down the road, and then every small breakdown can be claimed without additional charges!

Therefore, the F&I Tools Review finds the Lexus Platinum Warranty with $0 deductible to be the best bang for the buck!
