What is the warranty on a new 2023 Volkswagen?
VW 2023 Factory Warranty includes 4 years or 50,000 miles of bumper-to-bumper repair coverage.

The powertrain warranty is also 4 years or 50,000 miles and does not extend beyond the standard warranty.

Volkswagen has changed warranty policies many times in recent history, so if you are shopping for a used VW, then the 2018-2019 model years are the best choice for long, free warranties.

How long was the warranty in 2019 and 2018?

VW's 2019 and 2018 Factory Warranty included 6 years or 72,000 miles of bumper-to-bumper full mechanical and electrical breakdown protection.

The 2019 VW warranty was the longest bumper-to-bumper standard coverage in the automotive industry that year.

It pays for the cost of repairs for all malfunctions except normal wear items like tires and trim.

VW offers three extended warranty options: Platinum, Gold, and Powertrain.

What does the VW Platinum Extended Warranty cover?

The VW Drive Easy Platinum Plan extends beyond the factory warranty to include the same bumper-to-bumper full mechanical repair coverage for longer.

It pays for repairs on the engine, transmission, electrical, air conditioning, computer, audio, power windows, suspension, new technology, and everything else except the items on the exclusionary list.

Gold

The Gold Plan includes a thorough list of covered components, but only pays to repair items on the list. There are no exceptions for repair authorizations outside the scope of the list like there are on an exclusionary plan. Gold is a fine choice for a base model Golf, but if you're buying a fully loaded Tiguan or Atlas, then the VW Platinum Warranty is the easy #1 choice.

Powertrain

The minimalist Powertrain Plan covers the basic components that make the car run, but many repairs will fall outside the scope of this plan.

Pass if it’s the only option or buy a car that qualifies for a better plan.

How much is the repair copay?

VW extended warranties have three choices of deductible copay: $0, $100 disappearing, and $250.

The $100 deductible disappears when the owner returns to the selling dealer and is only charged if repairs are completed at a different dealership.

Therefore, unless the owner is planning to move soon, the $100 disappearing deductible plan is the best bang for the buck!

How much does the VW Platinum Extended Warranty cost?

Retail Market Value
10 Years or 100,000:

$0 Deductible: $6495

$100 Deductible: $5240

$250 Deductible: $4870

Where can I buy the VW Drive Easy Platinum Plan?

Extended plans are available for purchase from the Finance Department at VW dealerships nationwide.

Customer service ratings are highest when owners purchase the plan from the dealer they intend to return to for repairs.

VW provides surveys to repeat clients and dealer bonuses are linked to your satisfaction.

Therefore, the F&I Tools Review recommends buying the plan from your local dealer.

Where will repairs be done?

Owners should return to their selling dealer for repairs.

Dealerships have a greater interest in satisfying repeat customers and clients will receive better service from the selling dealer, plus the $100 copay is waived when returning to the original dealer for repairs.

If it is not convenient to return to their original dealership, owners may choose any Volkswagen dealership to complete the diagnostic and repair.

If difficulty is encountered during the diagnostic evaluation the owner may call VW directly for repair authorizations at this phone number:
