What is the standard MINI Cooper warranty?

MINI factory warranty is 4 years or 50,000 miles of bumper-to-bumper repairs on all malfunctions except normal wear items like brake pads, windshield chips, and upholstery.

The powertrain warranty is also 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first, from the original purchase date of the first owner.

MINI offers three factory warranty options for owners who want to buy longer coverage.

What do the MINI Cooper extended warranty options cover?

Option 1 - Platinum

The Platinum Warranty is MINI's best extended plan.

It covers the engine, transmission, drive assembly, head gasket, camshaft, infotainment system, induction, control module, convertible top motor, steering, heating, cooling, and everything else except items explicitly listed as exclusions on the contract (mainly wear and tear).

Option 2 - Gold

The Gold Plan has a substantial list of covered components but excludes some expensive repairs like the onboard computer, entertainment system, and power door locks.

It’s worth it to spend the extra money on the Platinum Plan to avoid unexpected repair costs down the road.

About one third of attempted claims will be denied by the Gold Plan that would be covered by the Platinum.

Option 3 - Powertrain

Powertrain Plus is a basic plan that covers the engine, transmission, and a few other components.

The MINI extended warranty deductible is $50 per repair visit.

Buy the Platinum Extended Warranty from the Finance Department at the MINI dealership closest to you.

You can use any dealer for repairs but customer satisfaction ratings are higher for owners who keep all transactions at one location.

Is the MINI Extended Warranty transferable?

Yes! You may transfer your MINI Platinum extended warranty to the next owner when you sell your vehicle private party.

Contact the Administrator to obtain the transfer form, get the list of required supporting documents, and pay the $50 transfer fee.

Where will repairs be done?

Repairs are completed by factory-trained technicians at MINI service centers nationwide.

A service consultant will perform a diagnostic inspection prior to issuing a work order.
